Dr. Kundan Aryal is an esteemed academician and media professional with extensive experience in the field of journalism, media studies, and communication. He currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu.

With a Doctorate Degree in Journalism, his research focused on the transition of the mass media landscape in Nepal, specifically analyzing the shift of newspaper journalism from partisanship to commercialism in the post-1990 era. This research indicates his dedication to understanding and critically evaluating the media environment in his country.

He has made significant contributions to media journals both within Nepal and neighboring countries like China and India. Later on, Dr. Aryal hosted a popular current affairs program on Radio Nepal, a state-owned broadcaster with a long history. Subsequently, in the aftermath of the conflict in Nepal in 2007, he served as an editor for a prominent fortnightly newsmagazine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Aryal has been actively contributing to newspapers, offering insights and analysis on various communication, media studies, policy issues, and political affairs, with a particular emphasis on matters related to free speech and media regulations.

In addition to his academic role, he has also served in a significant governmental position as the Press Advisor to the Prime Minister of Nepal from March 2018 to November 2019. This experience likely provided him with valuable insights into the complexities of media and communication within the context of governance and policymaking.

Apart from his academic and political engagements, Dr. Kundan Aryal is associated with various organizations and initiatives. He holds positions as a Secretariat Member at the Madan Bhandari Foundation and as the Chairperson of INSEC, a prominent human rights organization in Nepal. These roles highlight his commitment to human rights advocacy and social causes.
