Durga Karki is a distinguished Nepali professional with a strong background in journalism, media coordination, and gender advocacy. She holds a Master of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Nepali from Tribhuwan University, complemented by an Intermediate degree in Journalism and Nepali.

Durga’s career encompasses significant roles in various organizations, including her time at Radio Sagarmatha as Chief Programme Producer, where she led program production and design while guiding reporters and finalizing scripts. During her tenure as Shift Coordinator and Producer, she contributed to news production, reporting, editing, and hosting programs focused on women empowerment, current affairs, rule of law, and health.

As Media and Programme Coordinator at Women Rehabilitation Center (WOREC Nepal), Durga played a crucial role in collecting data on violence against women, publishing monthly reports, coordinating campaigns, and advocating for gender-related issues with stakeholders. Her diverse experience also includes work as a Reporter for Shree Sagarmatha Daily and as Presenter/Producer at Communication Corner, producing the radio magazine “KhojKhabar.”

Durga’s contributions extend beyond her journalistic prowess, as she has mentored journalists in gender-focused and current affairs writing, published articles in prominent Nepali news outlets, edited books addressing violence against women and disability management, and was honored with the South Asia Laadli Media Award for Gender Sensitivity in 2017. Her expertise and dedication continue to make her a valuable asset in advancing women’s empowerment and media development in Nepal.
